Capabilities
What this tool does
Full Polar Support
Enter any equation in θ and plot it against a polar grid. The θ key on the keypad inserts the angle variable for you.
Layer Several Curves
Overlay more than one polar equation on the same grid to compare a rose, a cardioid and a limacon directly.
Hover Coordinates
Follow the curve with the pointer and read the coordinates at any point, so you can check a value by hand.
Table of Values
Generate the table for the current expression when a question asks for specific values of θ.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert polar to rectangular?
Use x = r cos(θ) and y = r sin(θ). Enter the rectangular form in the Function tab to compare the two plots on the same axes.
How many petals does r = cos(nθ) draw?
If n is odd the rose has n petals; if n is even it has 2n petals. Plot the curve here to confirm the count for your own n.
Why is my curve not appearing?
Check the viewing window. A large-amplitude cardioid can sit outside the default −10 to 10 range, so zoom out or press the reset button in the toolbar.
Is this free?
Yes — no account, no download.
